As the Summer Stewardship Technician for Saratoga PLAN, Katie assists conservation staff in updating Management Plans for fee title preserves and supports Saratoga PLAN staff as needed.
Katie has a B.S. in Environmental Science & Policy from Clarkson University with a minor in Wilderness Education and a Masters in Conservation Biology with a focus on alpine ecology from Antioch University New England.
Most recently she worked with the Adirondack Mountain Club as a Botany Technician, surveying rare alpine plants and with the NY Natural Heritage Program, studying alpine snowbed communities in the Adirondack High Peaks for her thesis and is currently working to have her research published. She also works with SUNY Potsdam and Antioch University as an Adjunct Instructor teaching Adirondack Ecology & Wilderness Education.
For fun, she enjoys trail running long distances in the mountains, gravel biking, camping, reading and growing food on her homestead.
Fun fact: Katie spent her honeymoon hiking glaciers in Iceland
