NEXT GENERATION COMMITTEE

The Next Generation or “Next Gen” Committee is a group of young adults (20s -40s) who share a love of the outdoors, volunteerism, and meeting with like-minded people.  The group meets on a regular basis to talk about local land conservation, plan conservation events, and have fun!  The goal is to energize and engage the next generation of environmental leaders.

The group meets about once a month and is actively seeking new members who have a passion for the environment.

Lucy Grinvalsky

Chair

Lucy began volunteering with Plan five years ago when she moved to Galway. In her free time she enjoys hiking, kayaking and cross country skiing.

Brendan Dailey

Committee Member

Brendan Dailey has served as Chair of the Saratoga PLAN Next Generation committee. He is now on the PLAN Board of  Directors. He is a lifetime resident of Saratoga Springs.  He enjoys hiking, kayaking, basketball, and spending time with friends and family.  He graduated from American University in 2018 with a degree in Political Science and has been working for NYSERDA for 2.5 years.  He recently became a member of the Saratoga Springs Zoning Board of Appeals and is a local musician.  Brendan hopes other like minded young people will become a member of the NextGen committee as it continues to further the goals of Saratoga PLAN.

Alicia Aragosa

Social Media Coordinator

Alicia is a full time speech pathologist, part time field hockey coach, and a full time lover of the outdoors. She joined NextGen as a way to give back to the trails and nature preserves that she’s spent so many days enjoying. Says Alicia, “Saratoga PLAN has some of the most beautiful preserves, and it takes a village to maintain them. I’m so honored to help in any way that I can.”

Lauren Halligan

Committee Member

Lauren Halligan is a lifelong Saratoga County resident – a native of Galway who now lives in Greenfield. She studied journalism at The College of Saint Rose and has worked as a news reporter for The Saratogian and The Record since 2013. When she’s not busy reporting, Lauren enjoys exploring the many parks and nature trails within the area. She has served as a member of the Saratoga Plan Next Generation Committee since 2020.

Emily Yolleck

Vice-Chair

Emily Yolleck moved to Schuylerville in 2016 from Brooklyn, NY. The scenery was a big change and inspired her to get outdoors and become more involved in nature and the preservation of her local land and community. In addition to being a member of PLAN’s NextGen, she is part of the Schuylerville Climate Smart Board and the Schuylerville Community Council Board. She is a local artist and maker. In her free time, she enjoys creating, taking walks with her 3 dogs, mushroom foraging, and gardening. She is excited to be part of Saratoga PLAN’s NextGen Committee.

Ricky Russell

Scribe

Ricky serves as the secretary of the NextGen committee (aka “The Scribe” for his constant note taking during meetings!). He works as a meteorologist at Weather Routing, Inc. (WRI) in Glens Falls and currently resides in Malta.  He grew up in Amsterdam, NY and went to college at SUNY Oswego.  He previously worked as a volunteer for Saratoga PLAN’s Feast of the Fields event since 2017.  He loves hiking, biking and snowshoeing in his spare time and is a part of NextGen because he loves spending time in nature, promoting and preserving public green space, and exploring the natural world right around us and the wildlife it has to offer.

Andy Behan

Committee Member

Andy Behan grew up in Saratoga Springs, NY and has always loved the outdoors. He enjoys walking the many trails that this area has to offer. He studied History at SUNY Albany and currently works at WSWHE BOCES in Saratoga Springs. He has served as a member of the Saratoga Plan Next Generation Committee since 2020.

Maisie Wright

Committee Member

Maisie developed a love of the outdoors while growing up in Southern Vermont. Maisie moved to the Capital District to continue her career in education and currently serves as the Chief Academic Officer at KIPP Capital Public Schools. She moved to the Saratoga area because of the easy access to the woods! She can be found enjoying the Saratoga Plan trails with her family in all seasons–on foot, bike, snowshoes, or skis. Cold Brook and Bog Meadow are amongst her favorite spots!
