Sam Haas is a Conservation Assistant who joined Saratoga PLAN in 2024. At PLAN, Sam manages the stewardship of existing conservation easements, collaborates with landowners interested in conserving their land, supports staff with GIS needs, and occasionally flies a drone to capture social media footage!
Sam recently graduated from Skidmore College with a degree in Environmental Science. During college, he served as Head Lab Assistant in the GIS lab, measured soil carbon on working lands in Texas, and spent a summer as a remote sensing analyst with NASA – collaborating with Saratoga PLAN to quantify the benefits of agricultural easements on soil carbon!
Outside of the office you can find Sam skiing in the Adirondacks or travelling to visit family in New Hampshire, where he was raised.
Fun fact: During the winter, Sam does ski patrol!
“The beauty and culture of our farms and forests are a driving reason why so many people are moving to Saratoga County. It is important and rewarding work to protect these vital resources with the other incredible staff at PLAN”.
