Julie Stokes

Julie moved to Saratoga County over 5 decades ago. She founded the Saratoga Springs Preservation Foundation and was the first Executive Director.  She also served on the Board of the Preservation Action (National Lobbying Group), testifying before Congress and as Vice Chair of the Board of Advisors for the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

Julie joined NYS as Deputy Commissioner for Historic Preservation, State Historic Preservation Officer and Deputy Commissioner for Operations with New York State Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation.

In retirement, she helped merge the Land Trust of the Saratoga Region and the Saratoga Springs Open Space Project to create Saratoga PLAN. Julie served as Chair of the Board for PLAN for nine years and now serves on the Advisory Council.

She also currently represents the Village of Schuylerville and surrounding area on the Community Advisory Group for the dredging and flood plains of the Hudson River as well as supporting the Village in the PTNY Trail Town Program.

She, with multiple collies, has hiked and walked many of the trails in Saratoga County.
