Jim is a founding partner of the Towne Law Firm, P.C. His principal areas of practice are Litigation, Dealer Representation, Corporate/Commercial, Construction, Equine, Racing & Gaming, Malpractice, Government Ethics, Environmental and Estate Litigation.
Jim graduated from the University of Vermont in 1971 with a BA and from Albany Law School in 1975 with a Juris Doctorate degree. Jim has been the recipient of a number of awards over his career including: Top 100 Attorneys Lifetime Achievement Award, Super Lawyers Top 5% of attorneys practicing in Upstate New York and the 2017 Giving Circle Compassion Award, among others. He is an active member of the Saratoga County community, currently sitting on the Town of Ballston Ethics Board as well as the Board of Saratoga P.L.A.N.
In 2002 Jim founded the Loisaba Community Conservation Foundation, Inc., an IRC 501c3 not-for-profit which provides not only conservation support but also serves the 19,000+ Samburu and Laikipiak Maasai communities in Kenya with social and health support services as well as providing critical education support to over 750 students in an extremely impoverished and remote area of Kenya. Jim was appointed in 2012 by Governor Cuomo as a Board Member of the NYS Franchise Oversight Board, where he continues to serve. Jim resides in Burnt Hills with his wife Susan. He has 2 grown sons who with their wives have blessed the family with 8 grandchildren.
