Hugh Canham

Dr. Hugh Canham is Professor Emeritus at the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry, where he taught and conducted research in forest and resource economics for over 30 years. At SUNY ESF he earned B.S., M.S., and PhD degrees in Forestry, Photogrammetry, and Forest Economics.  He has done research in forest land ownership, regional economic impacts, forest taxation, and forestry practices. 

He has served as consultant to the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation, Northern Forest Lands Council, Tug Hill Commission, US Department of Agriculture, and NYC Catskill Watershed Agriculture Council.  Dr. Canham served on the Town of Salina Zoning Board of Appeals for 26 years, including 11 years as Chairman. 

Now residing in the Town of Milton, he is an active member of the NY Forest Owners Association, Society of American Foresters, and Empire State Forest Products Association.
