Self-guided farm tour offers fun for the whole family with tastings, tours, animal interactions, programs, and opportunities to purchase local produce and farm products.
SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY, May 23, 2024 – Local land trust Saratoga PLAN (Preserving Land and Nature) announces its inaugural Saratoga County Farm Showcase on Saturday, June 22nd. The event is a self-guided farm tour celebrating local farms and emphasizing the importance of protecting agricultural land in Saratoga County.
More than twenty farms will participate in the showcase from 10am-4pm, all within a 30-minute radius of Saratoga Springs. These farms demonstrate the diversity of agriculture in the region, from vegetables to livestock and orchards to vineyards.
The self-guided tour offers a chance for residents and visitors alike to experience working farms through demonstrations, interacting with farm animals, fresh food tastings, and more.
Saratoga PLAN Board Member Jennifer Koval shares, “I’m excited that Saratoga PLAN is working with local farm businesses to celebrate the rich agricultural heritage of our county while also raising awareness about the importance of farmland protection.” Koval, an Agricultural Educator at the local Cornell Cooperative Extension, adds, “A drive-it-yourself tour is a great way for families and visitors to get acquainted with a wide variety of local farms and to see what they work so hard to produce.” Koval’s passion for agriculture is deeply personal, as her family also operates Koval Bros. Dairy, a local farm in Stillwater.
