We hope our blog becomes your place to connect with PLAN and our diverse community of supporters – we’ll be posting about Saratoga PLAN news, upcoming events, conservation projects, volunteer activities, and interesting features about our unique and beautiful county. The PLAN blog will also keep volunteers connected to PLAN activities and to each other; your comments, photos, and ideas are always welcome additions!
As a first announcement for those who have not yet heard, we’re pleased to say that we’ve been awarded accreditation from the Land Trust Accreditation Commission! Only 285 of the 1,700 land trusts across the country have received this distinction since the program’s launch in 2008. This accreditation seal indicates to the public that we meet national standards for excellence, uphold the public’s trust, and work to ensure that our conservation efforts are permanent.
Our other big news is, of course, the launch of our new and greatly improved Saratoga PLAN website!!! The fresh, new design highlights the natural beauty of Saratoga County, and we hope users find it to be more user-friendly and informative. The design is supported by three main areas that are at the heart of what Saratoga PLAN is all about: ways to Conserve our landscape, ways to Explore our county, and ways to Get Involved with our organization. Inside the ‘Conserve’ tab, you’ll find a plethora of information focused on conservation, land use, and how our past, present, and future efforts help sustain the communities of Saratoga County. The ‘Explore’ tab is where you’ll find trail information, maps, and resources about trails, waterways, public preserves, and letterboxing. Be sure to check out the ‘Get Involved’ page to learn about all the different ways to help support your favorite local land trust! You’ll also want to explore the ‘What’s New’ section of the site to see upcoming events, PLAN news, photos, videos, and publications (including our new, ongoing blog!) We also want to extend a big ‘thank you’ to the New York State Conservation Partnership Program (NYSCPP) & the Nordlys Foundation for providing the funding needed in turning this long-envisioned website into a reality!
What’s the best way to stay in touch with Saratoga PLAN? Visit the site and blog often to keep up with exciting news and events, visit one of the beautiful preserves that we care for, take part in a trail clean up or event, send in photos or videos of a favorite Saratoga County spot, or donate to help us with our ongoing efforts. We rely on (and very much value) the generous contributions of friends like you, and can’t thank you enough for your ongoing support that continues to make Saratoga PLAN the number one resource for conserving the rural character, natural habitats, and scenic beauty of the county we all know and love.
Hope to see you on the trails soon!
